Our Mission
Stanley's Kids is a non-profit, faith-based organization that strives to integrate, educate and empower children and young adults with special needs in Nicaragua and other Central American countries. Our goal is to bring them out of the shadows, develop their God-given abilities and provide opportunities for them to thrive!
From our beginning in November 2016, Stanley's Kids has continued to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families. We now have two classrooms that provide safe and nurturing spaces where these children and young adults are accepted and taught according to their individual abilities, at no cost to their families. Stanley's Kids has also now formed a partnership with an additional established school in Central America, where we will be focusing on those students who will "age out" of government funded education. to provide opportunities for them to continue developing life skills.
Our Managua classroom, which began in May of 2019, currently has 22 students enrolled. In order to provide the best education possible, the students are divided into two groups based on their abilities, and each group attends classes two days a week. On Fridays, all of our Managua students come together for a day of art, music and socialization.
Our second classroom began in February 2018 in an impoverished village near Leon, Nicaragua. There could be no better place for Stanley's Kids to have a classroom! Our village classroom currently enrolls 24 children and young adults and allows them to come together several times a week to receive social interaction, education as their abilities allow and instruction in art, music and other skills. We have also worked to purchase a piece of beautiful property in the village that will soon be the location of "Stanley's Center". It will be there that our students will be able to learn life skills and even trade-work as their abilities allow. It is our goal that these students will be able to become confident and empowered to live their daily lives!
This year, we are excited that God has led us to expand our ministry into other Central American countries where our role will be more specialized. We are thankful that these students already receive socialization and education in government supported schools, but there is a great need to both educate the parents as well as the students to the God-given abilities that each individual has and how these skills can be used to grow their futures outside the home.
As with all programs of this type, funds are required to properly carry out our mission. In December of 2020, Stanley's Kids was approved as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization so that all donations made to our organization are fully tax deductible! Because we do not receive support from a church or any other ministry, we cannot fulfill our mission to these children and young adults without the donations of generous individuals who believe in our ministry and its goals. Our yearly budget covers the salaries for two highly trained and licensed Special Needs Teachers, two Assistant Teachers, the salary of Nicaraguan Directors who carry out day to day activities of the ministry within the country, Student Supplies and Transportation, Yearly Rent of the Building that houses our Managua Classroom and a new Student Work Program. Any donations that go above and beyond our yearly budget will allow us to assist with additional projects throughout the year such as improved housing, providing for additional student medical needs and physical therapy for many students as needed.
Will you partner with us on our mission to improve the lives of these extraordinary children?
